A restored 18th century fort, the Youth Hostel of
Catalazete is a great option for young people who want to
see Lisbon and the Estoril coastline. Oeiras is your host
town. Here, you can use the sport and leisure facilities,
such as Vale do Jamor sports complex – where the
National Stadium is located – and the seawater
public swimming pool, next to the hostel. If you prefer
the beach, then Carcavelos is the nearest option, but the
railway line along the coast gives you lots of others to
choose from.

The Youth Hostel in Almada has one of the most spectacular
views in the country. Built on the south shore of the River
Tagus, next to the 25 de Abril bridge, it gives you a
unique opportunity to gaze at a panoramic view of Lisbon
whilst sipping a coffee or reading your favourite book.
Going into Lisbon is as quick as a flash – except in
rush hour. By train, bus, ferryboat or car, you can go and
check out Lisbon by night, wandering along the docks in
Alcântara and Avenida 24 de Julho or around Bairro
Alto. There's always a chance of catching some big waves in
Costa da Caparica: there are plenty of beaches to choose
from. If you're not from around here, we suggest you buy a
tourist guide, so you don't miss out on what to do and see.

To get to the Sintra Youth Hostel, it’s uphill all
the way and there you are, on the slopes of the
Sintra-Cascais nature reserve. Sintra is a magical place,
with its amazing landscape and a historical legacy that
make it a World Heritage village. It is like an
encyclopedia of historical facts and detail, with visits
to its palaces - Palácio da Vila and
Palácio da Pena – as well as to Castelo dos
Mouros. To add to all this choice, you can always nip
into the Toy Museum – a trip to the world of
fantasy. After exercising your mind, it's time to burn
off some calories with some orienteering, a bit of
mountain-biking and a swim in the sea – can you
take it?... but, you should be careful in the sea, as it
can be quite rough. At Praia do Guincho, there's serious
competition for international surfing and windsurfing
prizes. And before you're off, take a look at Cabo da
Roca and feel the breeze coming from the Atlantic.
