The half-hour train journey from Cais do Sodré station to Estoril follows the seafront, passing through former fishing villages and golden beaches. Once an attraction for spies, authors and exiled royals during World War II, today Estoril is not less pretentious with its luxury hotels, Victorian villas and top-rated golf courses. Estoril is a charmer around the Central Parque do Estoril, a beautiful stretch of exotic trees, fountains surrounded by restaurants and bars, from the eastern end of the park, a free toy-train departs every 50 minutes for an Estoril tour. (11:00 am - 12:40 pm and 2:20 - 4:00 pm)

Situated at the top end of the park is Casino de Estoril, which was the inspiration for Ian Fleming’s “Casino Royale.” The tourism of the town revolves around this Europe’s biggest casino. The casino offers a choice of roulette cards, slot machines, restaurants, shops, an art gallery and live shows every night at 11:00 pm.

You shouldn’t also miss Estoril’s main beach, the Praia de Tamariz. From July to mid-September a free firework show takes place on the beach.

Estoril’s main train station is next to Avenida Marginal. Opposite you will find Estoril Tourist Office. which is open Monday to Saturday, from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm and Sundays from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
